Getting Rust Off Your Stainless Steel Pool Ladder

There are so many different types of pool ladders available. The stainless steel pool ladder is one of the most used types of ladders. This is because stainless steel is very resistant to rust. Ladders used on the pool can get eroded and rust easily, especially the part that is under water. This type of environment easily leads to the formation of rust.

Even though stainless steel is the most resistant material when it comes to rust formation, it will form after a while. This is usually caused by the chemicals that are found in the pool water. There are different methods to use to prevent the formation of rust on your stainless steel pool ladder. These methods can also help prevent further formation of rust in future and keep your ladder rust free.

Ways To Treat And Prevent Rust On Your Pool Ladder:

There are a few things you will need when removing rust from your ladder. These include water, a bucket, garden hose, baking soda, cleaning cloths, nylon scrubbing pad, wax paste and a powdered cleanser. First you need to remove the ladder from the pool. Then wipe all the water from it until it is completely dry. Make a solution with water, baking soda and the powdered cleanser. Make a thick and spreadable paste with a cup of powdered cleanser, cup of baking soda and some water.

Cover the whole ladder with the paste. Make sure that you make enough paste to cover the whole ladder since ladders come in different sizes and shapes. Even if you have to cover the whole ladder, be sure you cover the areas that have rust especially. Be sure that they are completely covered with this paste. Then scrub the ladder with a damp nylon scrubber. Starting scrubbing the ladder making sure you scrub the areas with the rust especially. After scrubbing, rinse the ladder using the garden hose. Check if there are any areas that still have some rust left and scrub them again.

After rinsing the ladder you can dry it. Then buff it with a clean cloth that is dry applying some pressure. Be sure to make it completely dry. After it is completely dry, you can apply a layer of wax to it. Apply it using circular motions with a clean cloth. The wax will greatly improve the look of your ladder. Allow the wax to set for a while; the time will depend on which brand you have. Therefore make sure that you refer to your manufacturer’s instructions in order to know how long to wait before buffing the ladder. The time usually ranges between 10 – 30 minutes. After the time is over you can buff the ladder with a clean dry cloth and be sure to apply some pressure when doing so. You can then replace your ladder in the pool.
